Good day everyone.
I have a variety of what is going on in our circles.
Curly Hair Artistry turned 14 on January 14, 2026 - and we are still going strong with making an impact on this niche industry with teaching clients how to embrace and love their hair and also with hairstylists that want to learn how to take this into their community as a service of cutting, product application and learning how to build their business.
We do not advertise - so, we rely on word of mouth to reach those that are serious about what Curly Hair Artistry does for helping you succeed.
We are like an underground movement that if you want to find us, you will.
Congratulations to @curlstudionepal for fulfilling the online training, assessments and video feedback of her accomplishments for Curly Hair Artistry Mastery Program recently. She is the FIRST curly hair specialist in Nepal! Check her out on Instagram:

Before coming in for a curly cutting session my client sent me progress photos of her hair. She was skeptical of taking Cultivate Your Curls online course as she felt somewhat confident in her approach but as you can see her hair did very well quickly AND only got better over time. During the cut we discussed how there are millions of people sitting in chairs - with curly hair - getting blow outs and wet cuts that do not match up with how they want to embrace their hair....so, please feel free to share this information to others looking for help.
I find out that what works best is sharing the stylists website you recommend (ie www.scottmusgravehair.com) as when you get genuine compliments on your hair and get asked, "What products do you use?" you can discuss it, but as you know with what Curly Hair Artistry teaches is that its not about the brand but knowing HOW to use what you have.
Why?
I can mention a brand and they say, "I tried that and it did not work for me."
When they reply with that in my studio, I will purposely USE what they say did not work and as they apply the products with Cultivate Your Curls Method, they say, "Oh, I did not use it correctly." and with that first lesson, they get fantastic results.
My clients get compliments, ask them to take out their phone and mention my website, they look it up and they say, "Get his course and go to him for the cut."
Here is the photo she sent me:
This was before the cut and it looks fantastic!
I want to share with you things that I share with others in my circles that relate to all of what fascinates me - a lifestyle that is more than just being a curly hair specialist:
I discovered that many of my clients LOVE the Merlin App for bird watching and discovering how to identify birds in their area by size, color and sounds - my wife got me a wonderful feeder from Wild Birds Unlimited (Advanced Pole System) and along with our bird bath I am hypnotized by watching them. Merlin has their Great Backyard Bird Count that is going on now - join in!
I am up to 17 birds after an hours so far in my front yard feeder we have set up.
With birding I have been learning how to detach from doom scrolling, mindless social media or spending too much time on the news, YouTube videos and over the years learned a lot of Journaling methods and there is a new surge of people embracing Analog into their lives.
How?
Journaling (not to analyze and fix your life) but to observe and record your life - of which I teach in my mentoring sessions with people that dont know how to journal. The online world of journaling is just as confusing as it is for learning about how to style your hair.
Film cameras are making a comeback. Vinyl records are huge right now. People reading hard cover books again (or soft cover as well). I am currently reading Theo of Golden (click link) of which is a beautiful story of a kind man coming into town and making connections in a unique way.
I personally do a Zibaldone style of journaling to document my week with quotes, art (of birds I see on a daily basis), ideas, cigar labels and thoughts that I also share with others when I meet up. Mine is art heavy but yours does not need to be:
Feel free to reply back and share yours with me!
Spotify has some great music from a place I did not expect - Our Planet II
- my son Eric sent me Cape Buffalo to listen to while working out and have to say its inspiring! I play it as background music at some of my gatherings and people think it is from Gladiator or some epic movie...and its Cape buffalo 😝
A book I recommend during my mentoring sessions that anyone can read to make it though challenging obstacles that get in your way HERE! I will have more info on my mentoring/coaching availability soon for those that are interested.
Finally:
Curly Hair Artistry is working on upcoming trainings - we will be returning to Maine again this year, so keep an eye out for those dates soon.
For now,
Scott Musgrave: Founder of Curly Hair Artistry
PS - working on Abstract Bird Feathers in my Zibaldone - which one do you like better?
