Curly Hair Artistry Planning, Preparation & Who To Follow

The first quarter of the year has flown by and we have been busy working on our vision, goals, intentions and actions.

In a recent Mastermind we wrote down what we accomplished, did not accomplish and why (to revisit them) and what we are grateful for (as its easy to overlook small and big wins over being frustrated in life).

For CHA - we had a great staff training session at Souther Curl in Atlanta:

Scott worked with Aarti's hair for a cover shot for Curl Magazine - it was amazing to meet Stephanie (the owner of Curl) and the team assembled for make-up, photography, video and assistance as this was only backing up what CHA teaches....team work!

Aarti worked with how to Cultivate Your Curls with The MAP Method and loved it! She had a bit of a time trying to get nice day 2 hair previously and now she can get a great day 3 hair. She is professional, authentic and what you see is what you get and we love her!

Curly Hair Artistry 2022 Trainings & More

Welcome to Curly Hair Artistry!

2021 has been a year of coming back into being who we are designed to be with personal and professional growth that took participants to the next level.

CHA had 2 wonderful trainings in Rockville MD and Denver CO.

Denver CO

Rockville MD

Being with stylists around the USA was fantastic in learning from each other, seeing stylists get new ideas to impact their communities and for Team CHA (Debbie Miller, Wafaya Abdullah and Scott Musgrave) get ideas to impact the future of their business and Curly Hair Artistry for future growth.

#1) Starting Mid-January 2022 there will be a formation of a Mastermind Groupwith online meet ups and content delivered to your box on a monthly basis with two CHA’ts (Curly Hair Artistry’ talks) with the intention of helping you (and each other) to reach more of your personal and professional goals in and out of the salon. This has been one of the most requested features as its not all about...

Many Hairstylist and clients (I have had thousands of conversations with my clients about this) start out doing their regular trade and learn their craft and get stagnant, bored and find that what they are doing is just not working.

From here - they quite, get burnt out and are overwhelmed or bored. Trade shows and local trainings are not enough.

I get many calls from clients and hairstylists wondering how to expand what they do, raise their prices...

How To Fix Frizzy Hair!

Hairstylists are in a huge industry to choose what to do that have so many paths of opportunity to pursue.  We have options of working in a team based salon, on our own as a booth renter, as an educator or pursue a path in the fashion or entertainment world working on all types of hair.

If you were to look at our industry as a whole - its global. This is HUGE.  When you start to see the small areas that you can specialize in - and most are NOT seen or heard about as these niches are not found or headlining at Trade Shows. They are not discussed in Cosmetology school. You have to almost ‘accidentally’ find them and once you do you kick yourself for not finding it sooner.

But there is such a thing as Perfect Timing.

If you are reading this now - I bet you are sensing this as anticipation stirring for helping you out of boredom, stagnation and even financial debt (as these were mine back in the day).

This blog deals with the wavy &...

Meet some of our friends to see how they are changing the world.

Good day everyone!

Working with people day in and day out we discover many fascinating things that people are doing in their profession. Their passion for what they do is contagious and exciting!

When you start hearing stories of how people are transformed by what they are doing - it is something we want to share with the world of how they are contributing to making a difference in their region of the globe.

First mention is Colie Taico (click name for info). She is a therapist and specializes in a couple of areas including helping women heal their relationship with food.

If you are in Cultivate Your Curls she is in the section of how to get multiple day hair (of which has helped many people to relearn how to work with day 2-3-4 hair).

Colie works with clients one on one and is taking her years of experience and is creating an online course that will reach others that can not sit with her privately.  Sign up HERE to get on her list.

She is also on...

Hairstylists - A NEW Opportunity awaits you for creating a new business model.

Hairstylists - good day to you!

Our industry leads the way with teaching us about two ways to make money - and it starts out with Cosmetology School and is reinforced as you attend Trade Shows:

  1. If your clients hair is straight - perm it to make money.
  2. If your clients hair is curly - straighten it to make money.

From this you can 'sell' products and heat tools to 'help' them at home to recreate your work.

From here we learn other options as we progress in our career to fill our schedule in the salon and make a paycheck:

  1. If your clients hair is dark - lighten it to make money.
  2. If your clients hair is grey (of what we call Silver) - add color to make money.

Some of these are options that a client wants and desires.

But NOT every time.

And these options are expanding outside of traditional trade shows, cosmetology school and in salon trainings.

Beyond the limits of this antiquated business model are new opportunities that are not...

What happens in a week or two with Curly Hair Artistry?

Good day everyone - what happens in about a week or two both in Curly Hair Artistry and also Cultivate Your Curls

A LOT!

Let us give you a peek....

Did you see Danielle's quick Facebook Live about expanding on something we address in the online course Cultivate Your Curls about Options & Possibilities (O&P)?

It was powerful!

We shared an article that went out on Instagram about Scott Musgrave: Founder of Curly Hair Artistry from a leading salon publication (Modern Salon) that quoted him and also got a reply back from a salon we did a Live Training at in Raleigh NC that is excelling in their region from what they learned - check out this quote:

While we were in Portland Maine a local YouTuber Pete Talbot did a chat with Scott and it went viral with a fun run of local scenery, food and light houses:

This was the mention in Modern Salon that was shared by Scott on Instagram @scottmusgravehair:

Subjective Experience vs Objective Truth.

As a teacher I am fascinated with how other teachers fill their students minds with the curriculum or area of interest and I realized that some teachers teach a perspective that they personally learned about - which is called a Subjective Experience but they are teaching it as an Objective Truth

When you experience something and it works for you and you share it as a way of working for everyone else - you are a bit misguided in how to instruct others.

If you share your experience as 'truth' for others it can become confusing to many of your students as what you are teaching is not applicable to everyone but they feel as though they are out of your 'club' by not agreeing with it or it just does not work for them. I have heard that people in those circles are shamed or belittled by 'not trying hard enough' or 'not doing it right'.

Instead of the teacher saying, 'This is not applicable to you." - their students are made to feel as though they are doing something...

What Do You Need For Healthy Curly Hair?

Good day everyone.

We have been on a quest for encouraging others to be the best they can be and we always wonder: what else can be done to help readers, participants and online members to reach their goals with their wavy/curly hair?

One member wanted to share that her hair health increased by changing to better products with ingredients that promoted healing such as Innersense Color Radiance Daily Conditioner. It has been amazing to see this conditioner transform so many heads of hair around the globe.

Another member shared that increasing her intake of zinc has helped with reducing hair shedding and falling out.
Scalp Massage, Biotin and a healthy diet has always helped many with keeping the follicle - under the scalp - stay healthy by keeping blood flow up to the scalp that stress, medicine or a clogged pore can hinder hair growth.

We are not medical doctors as many things that cause hair issues can be related to diet, stress, hereditary and hormones and...

Learning about Self Care through Wavy & Curly Hair.

Good day everyone.

Just a note for you on what we are learning about taking care of yourself that goes along with caring for your wavy/curly hair.

Self Care is so important.

It is part of my own personal vocabulary to understand myself better as 'self care' was not really on my radar. Over time it just faded away and I was wondering why I wanted to check out or even just give up at times.

Maybe you can relate - or if you are on a path of self care now then reply back with how you are caring for yourself with tips that can be used in another blog for helping others in the near future.

As a curly hair specialist - or as other people in service industries do with always putting other people above themselves - can lead to burn out or a sense of not caring anymore - it's so important to learn to step back and learn to find things to renew yourself so that you remain passionate to continue - not just for others- but for an invigorating LIFE.

I learned to time block...
